My story “Requiem in D-minor: for prions, whales and burning bush” has been accepted by science-fiction podcast magazine Escape Pod. The story originally appeared in UK webzine Hub, issue #24, in September 2007. The print version is currently on the ‘Stories’ page on this website, until Hub finish their refurb and their archives are easily linkable again.

My story “Stiletto” is now available to purchase in PDF or print formats in Greatest Uncommon Denominator #4 – which also features my friend Tristan’s excellent story “Maya’s World”.

Funnily enough, while I was away at a vipassana meditation retreat over the past couple of weeks, Greatest Uncommon Denominator have bought my story “Annicca”, which was inspired by the first vipassana retreat I did a couple of years ago.

Also, a sale I made three years ago, just before I went to Clarion West, that I thought had fallen through when the publisher ran into some difficulties will apparently be seeing publication after all. Fantasist Enterprises have revived the Blood and Devotion anthology, which includes my story “The Gifts of Avalae” and are hoping to have it in print around June this year.

A podcast of my winning Writers of the Future story “Bitter Dreams” will be appearing at SFZine sometime in the hopefully not too distant future. Gotta love those stories that keep on giving.

I just sold my story ‘Cockatoo’ to All Hallows, the journal of the Ghost Story Society. (Very nice to have them agree with me that it is a ghost story, since a few people haven’t been convinced that it’s a genre story at all). This was the last story I wrote at Clarion West in 2006, and leaves just one of my CW stories unsold (and still in the trunk, crying for help for the foreseeable future).

Also, the folks from Drabblecast, after hearing the podcast of “The Greatest Adventure of All” at Pseudopod, very flatteringly asked if they could buy the audio rights for “The Alchemical Automaton Blues” – and what’s more it’s up already to listen to at http://web.mac.com/normsherman/Site/Podcast/Podcast.html

After a couple of rewrites and with a little help from my friends, I’ve sold my story ‘Songdogs’ at Beneath Ceaseless Skies. Very happy, love the magazine – not least because I’ll be joining 2 of my Clarion West ‘06 classmates and 3 of my Writers of the Future ‘08 classmates with stories there.

Ah well, no Aurealis Award for me this year. The Horror Short Story award went to Kirstyn McDermott for her story ‘Painlessness’, which can be found in Greatest Uncommon Denominator (GUD), Issues #2.
